1345-ACO Race Manager Update

The first half of the 2016 F1 season has been one of the most exhilarating in recent years, with fantastic racing backed up by on and off-track drama, misfiring tactics, and a number of near misses stemming from poor quality track fittings coming loose.

While things are looking tight at the top of the drivers’ standings, the competitive spirit has spilled through into the merchant market, with ACO’s Race Team Manager Competition fast gathering pace.

Two races in and an impressive number of merchant teams up and down the country have taken up the challenge of battling for the inaugural Race Team Manager title. Kicking off with one of the most memorable Monaco Grand Prix’s in living memory – which had everything from storms and botched pit stops to flying drain covers – the aftermath also saw the first few teams get their noses in front in the RTM title race.

Strong individual performances from Paul Ogden and Paul Tomlinson from Travis Perkins – Sheffield, and Richard Mansell for Rudridge – Brentford, saw them each take home the great prize of a Mercedes AMG Messenger Bag, as well as the initial lead in the competition.

With the blistering on-track pace continuing in Montreal, so too did the RTM competition. A strong performance in Week 2’s questions saw Neil Gulliver from JT Atkinson – Bishop Auckland, take home a Ferrari watch for nabbing the top spot, while Kenton Peace from Rupipe Drain & Duct Supplies – Surrey, and Matthew Crown from Jewson – Hobart, took up the remaining podium positions, as well as a Carrera Speed Run racing kit each.

With the Spielberg Grand Prix questions due to go live on www.raceteammanager.com on 1 st July, the overall leader board is starting to take shape as we move into the competition’s middle stages. However, with no clear leaders, all is very much still to play for in the run up to the Grand Final at the BMF Members day in September. For those yet to register, two Wild Card finalist places are up for grabs, so make sure you get your team registered now.

For inside tips and general racing discussion, the Race Team Manager LinkedIn group – The Podium – is now up and running, and can be joined here .
