Staff at Kohler Mira Ltd have beaten a target of raising £20,000 by July 1st for the Leukaemia & Intensive Chemotherapy charity (LINC). Better still, Kohler Mira had pledged to match the funds raised by its staff – bringing the total just handed over to LINC to a whopping £41,000.
LINC works to improve the care of cancer patients and their families around Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Dr Gill Rouse, LINC director and co-founder, was presented with a cheque by Kohler Mira MD Dave Hill and the company’s charity co-ordinator Kat Griffiths at a special benefit event at the end of June. “Everyone has made a huge effort with all types of events being held from the charity ball, static bike ride, raffles, golf days and cake sales,” said Kat.
In one event more than 70 employees rode static bikes over the equivalent distance from Cheltenham to the Olympic Velodrome, 164 km, and raised over £1100 while the walk in memory of former employee Phil Tuckwell from his home town Northleach to the Cromwell Road HQ raised more than £1400.
