At this year’s National Homebuilding and Renovating show on the 27 – 30 March, Knauf Insulation will be presenting its Earthwool loft roll insulation and its BBA approved ThermoShell® solid wall insulation solutions at the Energy Saving Home.
Situated next to the Energy Saving Home, visitors to Knauf Insulation’s stand will be able to view its products in situ, listen to daily 15 minute speaker slots - which focus on a fabric first approach - as well as have the opportunity to watch informative presentations about the benefits of its ThermoShell Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) and External Wall Insulation (EWI) systems, as singular or hybrid solutions.
Knauf Insulation is the UK’s only manufacturer to offer a hybrid solid wall solution for a property, incorporating both ThermoShell IWI and EWI systems, and as such can provide expert guidance to help specify the right mix of solid wall solutions for a property.
Steve Duke, Sales Director – Refurbishment and Contracting at Knauf Insulation, commented: “When it comes to hybrid solutions, most people think that it is straight forward; for example, install an IWI system to the front of the house and an EWI system to the back. However, this isn’t always the case. When installing a hybrid solution to an end-terrace, semi-detached or a detached house, there will always be a junction where the two systems meet.
“A big advantage of our ThermoShell IWI and EWI systems is that one system designer is responsible for both systems, including the junction details.”
Knauf Insulation has launched an Accredited Installer Scheme, which is aimed at teaching tradesmen, of all disciplines, to become an approved installer of both ThermoShell systems. Courses are provided at a dedicated ThermoShell Training Academy in Birmingham, and consist of a thorough theoretical workshop followed by practical sessions where the attendees put what they have learned into practice – information on the courses will be available on the stand for visitors.
The ThermoShell IWI system requires no scaffolding to be installed and can be installed on a room-by-room, single façade or whole house basis as part of a refurbishment plan. What’s more, as it does not affect the exterior of a property, the system can be installed in conservation areas.
Meanwhile, during the installation of Knauf Insulation’s ThermoShell EWI system, occupants of the property will not be disturbed. It has also been designed for the lifetime of the building and even helps to prolong the building’s life by protecting it from weathering.
