Ibstock, the UK’s largest brickmaker, is celebrating more than a decade of dominating the shortlist of the Brick Development Association (BDA) Awards, as its bricks feature in 42 of this year’s entries.

At the 40 th anniversary of the prestigious awards, Ibstock features in 11 of the 14 categories from large to small scale housing through to commercial developments, highlighting the striking aesthetic appeal and design flexibility offered through the brick maker’s extensive range.

Among the shortlisted entries is the Incurvo building in Oxfordshire, which is recognised in the Individual Housing Development Award. It uses Ibstock’s Swanage Handmade Light Red Multi to create a luminous earthy orange hue on the sweeping curves of the building’s walls. The Sighthill Regeneration, providing 141 new build houses and flats in North Glasgow using Ibstock’s Caledonian Buff, has also made the shortlist in the Best Large Housing Development Award. And, Nando’s in Hove, which uses Ibstock’s Linear Black Impression, Umbra Sawtooth and Natural Blu to create a shipwreck inspired restaurant, is shortlisted for Innovative use of Clay and Brick Products.

Andrew Halstead-Smith, Group Marketing Manager at Ibstock, comments: “It’s fantastic to be shortlisted in so many categories once again, continuing Ibstock’s dominance at these renowned awards. Each nominated project provides an example of how the wide ranging and intelligent use of brick can create unforgettable designs. Each year, the BDA Awards remind us that brick remains the building material of choice for creative and contemporary architecture. As Ibstock bricks have been used in buildings shortlisted in almost all categories it really demonstrates the vast variety of striking builds achievable through their use.”

The 2016 award ceremony will be held at The Hilton Park Lane, London, on Thursday 10 November. For a full list of Ibstock shortlisted entries, visit www.brick.org.uk
