The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the highlights of the horticultural year, and 2017 saw, for the first time, the inclusion of bricks from the UK’s largest brickmaker, Ibstock as part of a stunning garden design by Kate Gould Gardens.
The concept, entitled ‘City Living’ was a Gold medal winner and was also awarded ‘Best Fresh Garden’. It showcases a contemporary garden on three levels seeking to transform what are traditionally forbidding spaces found around typical urban apartment blocks.
The garden designer’s vision has created a green space for a city environment including appealing planting and tranquil water features.
As part of the design, Ibstock supplied 15 m 2 of white Sawtooth Glazed bricks, together with white glazed brick slips. They add a sleek, modern background suitable for the urban landscape. Used on the lower level of the three story structure as part of the wall detailing, they provide a backdrop for the garden’s water feature.
The white glazed bricks form part of Ibstock’s extensive colour palette for ceramic glazed finishes, offering unique and memorable solutions that help bring design vision to life. They have been used on many award-winning projects to date.
Andrew Halstead-Smith, Group Marketing Manager for Ibstock, comments: “We were delighted to be asked to be involved in a stunning garden design that has made its mark at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show. Specified within the urban-inspired garden created by Kate Gould, the white Sawtooth Glazed bricks create a vibrant and appropriate background, helping to set off the dramatic and memorable combination of planting and water to great effect.”
Garden designer Kate Gould, added: “We’re really proud of this garden and the use of Ibstock bricks has helped bring to life the ‘City Living’ concept we were seeking to achieve.”
