A variety of bricks from the UK’s largest brick maker, Ibstock have helped bring to life striking designs across three impressive award-winning Barratt Developments.
Barratt Developments was awarded the coveted Volume Housebuilding Award at the 2014 Brick Development Association (BDA) Awards – the premier showcase for the brick industry, recognising excellence in design and construction using brick. A combination of unique design and innovative use of brick has created visually impactful homes across the awarded developments.
Historic Bentley Priory in Middlesex showcases a clever use of pre-cast brick arches and contrasting brick schemes to create areas of pictorial interest. Making use of both Ibstock’s Red range and its Leicester Multi Cream colour schemes, Bentley Priory offers a distinctive and memorable aesthetic appeal of tone, colour, richness and warmth.
The Horizons development in Allerton Bywater brings together the unique properties of Ibstock’s Melton Blend range and the Ibstock-Kevington Fastwall brick slip panelling system, to produce an attractive and engaging architectural response to the needs of volume house building.
Finally, Trumpington Meadows in Cambridge has combined the quality of the Leicester Multi Cream brick with Ibstock-Kevington Fastflint to help enrich the visual appeal of the development and allow it to blend sympathetically within its local area.
Andrew Halstead-Smith, Group Marketing Manager at Ibstock, says: “Winning a BDA Award is a great acknowledgement of the design excellence showcased across the Barratt Developments’ sites.
“Individually, each project is a prime example of why brick remains the pre-eminent building material of choice to bring design to life. Together, they offer testimony to the power brick continues to have to support the creation of memorable buildings. And, most importantly, each project has created the type of home that people want to live in and we are delighted that Ibstock bricks have played a critical role in achieving this.”
