Flexseal-sponsored British speedway world champ Tai Woffinden romped to victory at the Czech Grand Prix on 31 st May – catapulting him back into pole position in this year’s world title fight.

The 2013 Czech Grand Prix was the first international event where Woffinden had triumphed, so it was a particularly sweet victory to repeat that success this year.  And it’s a good omen for his race to defend the World Championship title as 7 of the last 10 years’ winners in Prague went on to win out overall – including Woffinden last year, who then became the Championship’s youngest ever winner at 23 and the first Brit titleholder for 13 years.

Woffinden got off to a shaky start in the Championship, tabling a meagre joint 8 th after the first event in New Zealand in early April and then dropping a further 4 places after a poor result in the 2 nd event in Poland.  Back, leg & shoulder injuries all played their part, but he made a storming return in the following event in Finland.

The convincing win in the 4 th event in Prague leaves Woffinden in joint first position for the World title with US rider Greg Hancock, with the third place rider, Aussie Darcy Ward, just one point below them.

Market-leading coupling manufacturers, Flexseal, along with their sister company Source One Environmental, have sponsored Woffinden since his first professional speedway appearances for Scunthorpe Scorpions 7 years ago.

“Tai is a fantastic sportsman, who battles on no matter what’s thrown at him,” commented Flexseal MD Tony Leyland.  “I’ve no doubt he’ll stop at nothing to reclaim the World title this season.”
