The Blackrock range of safety footwear was launched in 2006, bringing to market a consolidated range of general purpose styles designed to suit the requirements of trade counters and a wide variety of industrial sectors including construction, automotive, logistics and civil engineering. With steel toecap and midsole (SB-P) as a minimum specification for entry level styles, rising to antistatic (S1-P) and water resistant (S3) options where required, the key premises the range was built on were performance, comfort and value. Offering only fast-moving, high volume styles meant that significant depth of UK stock could be held to give constant availability.
Blackrock’s proposition, along with the emphasis placed on good customer relationships, proved an appealing one for the target markets and enabled the brand to rapidly grow both its distribution and reputation over the following years. The original core remains very much at the heart of the range, but success has enabled the brand to target new markets. The ability to make styles to customers’ specifications now exists and 2013 sees the launch of lightweight, metal-free composite styles and, notably, the Blackrock Hygiene range.
This year also sees Blackrock push into the more design-led market. Styles already announced to the market include the fully waterproof Tempest boot designed to cope with the unpredictability of the British weather, and the hi-top tan Sahara boot with a hard-wearing PU/rubber sole that gives maximum slip resistance (also available in black as Raven). It doesn’t stop there, with further styles in development that will appear later in the year.
All Blackrock styles are certified to BS EN ISO 20345 with SB-P level protection as minimum for general purpose styles and S2 for Hygiene styles
