Timelinee-Xact Online launched as an industry initiative in 1999, following an extensive feasibility study by the Builder’s Merchants Federation (BMF). Initial funding was under a grant from the UK Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) but e-Xact quickly developed commercially into a valuable resource for UK building material suppliers/manufacturers and builders merchants.

Today, e-Xact connects manufacturers, distributors, builders merchants and specifiers by providing a fully searchable managed database service for building material information, including EAN codes, dimensions, weights, units, data sheets, images and other rich data. Source data from suppliers is automatically processed and validated, with human intervention to correct, enhance and aggregate as required so that users can enjoy one-click access to product data.

e-Xact Online is part of the Construction Industry Solutions (COINS) eBusiness division. High quality product data is required throughout the supply chain and COINS eBusiness offers wider opportunities for e-Xact’s merchant and supplier subscribers.

e-Xact began with BMF support and our relationship continues to this day. This year, we will be at BMF Members Day 2016 on 20-21 September, demonstrating the value of e-Xact to independent merchants and suppliers.
